I tip my hat to you, sir. It's specifically the snow globe-y isolation of Bay Area blind-folded extreme liberalism, (making me, an radical liberal in any other part of the country but here practically a daughter of the Bush administration), get their panties in a bunch over what you wrote without thinking much about it. I wish that I had a penis so that I could whip it out just to shock the sheep-herded 99%. That's what all of this does to me.

The “lukewarm Jacuzzi of resignation we’ve settled into” could not have been better said. I'm surprised you failed to compare Newt Gingrich to Dwight Shrout, with whom I belive he shares many traits. However, I politely decline to speak at length about my views on tax policy because in the art world around here anything short of blaming the rich for inequality is akin to picking a fight.

I liked your post, now that I reread it as outright satire. I agree that I oversimplified the relationship of party to income distribution. Republicans get blamed for many things like taking the country to war when democrats share a large if not equal responsibility. I hope it's clear that the blog is a send up of political writing in the art world and not to be taken seriously as such. I only hope to provoke people to wonder about their unexamined assumptions. One common one is that there is a relationship between a 30-year rightward shift on tax policy and a concurrent rise in economic inequality. Perhaps you could speak at greater length to that.

Thank you for your comment, Sam. The policies that produce a small group of disproportionately wealthly people in the United States are the products of both Republican and Democratic administrations, coupled with a long cycle of economic, technological, and cultural revolutions that are multi-causal and have little to do with elections.
