this is such a great posting! i always regret not to see more connection in our cultural institutions btn sound and vision.
some amazing music has been done inspired by art.
feldman comes to mind with the rothko and beckett pieces. some of zorn's literary and cinematic celebrations.
xenakis' interwoven architecture and sound body of work, 'les polytopes', is also a favorite.
nick blinko and his compulsive mark making. wolf eyes' nate young. and so much more...

Jef this is wonderful! The pairings are so well suited. Especially enjoyed Sister Ray. Next could be film shorts (a.k.a. p. clipson, b. connor, etc..) with music!

Great selections Jefre. I was particularly drawn to the Celmins/ Braxton comparison. The sonorous undulations of the Braxton's sax perfectly compliment Celmin's drawing of gently swelling ocean waves. And really, how does he do that without stopping? It strikes me that they both also share a finely tuned attention to detail, and an emphasis on duration.
