Amongst the album&#039;s many highlights is a further impression of Katherine Hepburn in Stage Door, with a monologue which incorporates lines from Hamlet&#039;s soliloquy - very interesting in terms of the levels of self-awareness Jason has as a performer.Since writing this piece, I came across Kathy Geritz’s excellent and succinct program notes for Portrait of Jason written for her Shirley Clarke retro at the Pacific Film Archive back in ’92:http://www.bampfa.berkeley.edu/film/FN9498Kathy confirms my ideas regarding Portrait, and there are valuable bits of info and Clarke quotes in these notes.I’ve also heard one of Clarke’s peeves with Jason was indeed how exhausted by his routines she was – she later claimed to have heard them all fifty times before the shoot!]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Audio Portrait is a must have for fans of Jason, though for me some of the musical interludes could have been better chosen.
