Oh, I was just curious whether or not there'd be crossover, given how unusual it is to have both exhibitions the same year. A little factual correction: the SECA members do not get a vote. They do pay to be able to go on the studio visits and attend other SECA activities like lectures and tours, which I believe is quite common for auxiliary groups, but decisions about both finalists and winners are made by the curators.

isn't that simply b/c SECA is an endowed award/'prize' whereas BAN is a curated exhibit supposed to represent a more representative cross-section of the local scene (ie not necessarily a 'best of' or a 'you win!')? (not that that makes BAN a 'better' show, mind you); and that Trevor was just shown at YBC, & Desiree has been in BAN before (they don't do repeats)?
apples v oranges? or largesse v pluralism? i don't believe the BAN curators each paid $500 to get a vote like SECA members do...
